What is DVR? DVR is a term used to describe Digital Video Recording. Unlike analog equipment, like a tape recorder, VCR, or Time Lapse Recorder, DVR is pure digital, providing the highest quality surveillance video available. TOP
What are the benefits of having a DVR system? DVR can take the place of a security monitor, motion sensors, time lapse recorder, quad processor, and accessories. Digitally record all video, and login remotely to see your cameras. TOP
What is "Real Time" recording? Real Time recording is the ability to record 30 NTSC / 25 PAL frames per second per camera. The DVTech Series has the ability to record 16 cameras at the full frame rate simultaneously. TOP
What is unique about the DVTech DVR System? The DVTech DVR is a digital video recording solution that provides MPEG-4 Hardware based compression. After compression, the video is stored on hard drives, which can be accessed by multiple view stations over the LAN or WAN. TOP
What is significant about DVTech Systems 's Hardware compression? DVTech Systems Hardware compression has incorporated proprietary algorithms optimized for CCTV. This technique provides variable bit rate recording and "Real Time" video compression for all cameras without compromising frames, quality or resolution. Software compression also allows DVTech DVR to save storage media versus other compression methods. Another inherent benefit of Hardware compression is the ability to upgrade allowing for continuous improvements and new features. TOP
What are the benefits of variable bit rate? Variable bit rate recording is achieved by DVTech Systems 's use of the most sophisticated Digital Signal Processors currently available. DVTech Systems's variable bit rate ultimately benefits end users by providing complete information. When action or detail is increased in the video scene, the variable bit rate automatically increases to provide you with quality video without the loss of valuable information, frames or resolution. When there is little or no change in the video stream, storage requirements are reduced by the automatic lowering of the bit rate. TOP
How long can I store images on a DVTech DVR? Duration of storage in the DVTech DVR is a function of frame rate, image quality and event thinning parameters. For example: a typical application involves storing images at a rate of one image every two seconds from every camera. General surveillance is set to save all images for three days and motion storage for 90 days, a 185 gig hard drive will accommodate this requirement. DVTech DVRs can be provided with drive capacities up to 1.2 TB. TOP
Does the number of cameras connected affect the storage capacity? No, it is the number of images recorded based upon the frame rate that affects the storage capacity.
How many cameras can be connected to a DVTech DVR? The DVTech DVR can be supplied in 4, 8, 12, 16 and 32 camera configurations. TOP
What kind of video cameras can I use? Wired, wireless, color, and black & white cameras are all compatible with our systems and cards. TOP
When retrieving video, is the DVTech DVR still recording? Yes, all DVTech DVRs are full duplex meaning, the DVR continues to record while viewing live or retrieving historic video. TOP
When someone is viewing live images remotely, does it affect recording speed? No TOP
What is the compression methodology used by the DVTech DVRs? An MPEG-4 Hardware compression is used by all DVTech recorders. TOP
Does DVTech use watermarking to authenticate image integrity? DVTech has a preferred solution. TOP
Can DVTech DVRs support both dial-up and TCP/IP connectivity? DVTech DVRs are available with both dial-up and / or TCP/IP connectivity. TOP
If my unit becomes unplugged from the power, will the programming settings be lost and require re-programming? The individual programming options are saved in a configuration file on the recorders hard-drive and are not affected by power loss. TOP
If power is lost or interrupted for a period of time, what will happen to the recorder when power is restored? Once power is reapplied or is reestablished, the recorder will begin operation and record as indicated by the recording schedule programming before power loss. TOP
Can you select Motion Detection using individual cells, or Vertical bars? Individual cells, using the camera buttons. Not vertical bars. TOP
How does it relate to sensitivity? Sensitivity is a scale of 1 – 7, based on the percentage of pixel TOP

Compression
What is the maximum recording speed per DVR ? 480FPS with MPEG4. TOP
What is the maximum monitoring speed per your DVR? It's real-time.  This allows total of 240FPS monitoring capability per DVR. TOP
Can each camera be assigned to different recording speed? Yes. Each camera can be set to record at its own unique speed.  TOP
What is the compressed image size per frame? 3Kb in excelent quality. TOP
What is your DVR resolution? CIF and 4CIF. TOP
Â
Archiving
What happens when my disk storage space is full? The system will automatically record over the earliest dated files in your disk drive. In this case your earliest data will be erased as the system automatically records new data over it. TOP
How do I search for certain image(s)? Unlike VCRs no need to fast-forward or rewind. Just go to the Player Feature, click on specific date, and click desired time to play it. It's easy and quick. Smart search option is available.  TOP
Can I backup video files on other media devices? Yes. You can use external CD-RW, DVR-RW, DAT and other media devices on either serial or USB connection (go to the Find Records and use the backup feature Network TOP
Can I use 56K modem to view remotely? Yes. 56K modem works on PSTN at 0.5FPS.  TOP
Â
Remote
How many users can connect to the DVTech at any one time? Up to 8 users can connect to the system and perform Remote Admin.
Â
What are the computer system requirements for the Remote System? Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (Celeron) or higher RAM: 256MB or higher VGA: AGP, Video RAM 128MB or higher TOP

Passwords The DVTech equiped with Password Protection and user rights for each user. TOP
What is the access security level? DVTech DVRs have triple password settings on DVR level and one password setting for remote access. TOP
Does DVTech DVR have water-mark? Yes. The authenticity is guaranteed with our proprietary software. If any data has been tampered, it will not play back. An alarm can set to sound if any data is being tampered with. Red flagging tampered images is available. TOP
Is there alarm feature for detected motions? Yes. You can set the sounding alarm for any detected motions. TOP
Is DVTech DVR equipped with motion detect sensors? Yes. Our motion detect sensors will allow you to select your own motion detect zone per camera. TOP
Is there remote alert notification? Yes. You can set auto Email SMS feature to receive any notifications for any abnormal activities such as unauthorized access to your DVR (unauthorized view, file search, file manipulations, setting changes) and system troubles, etc. Such auto email features is convenient since emails can be received via cell phones also.
